Last weekend, following the recommendation of some friends, I made my way straight to the east. Some locals had been developing an area called Chemnitztal. For those who don't know, the bouldering scene up there has been growing quite fast the last few years.
The landscape of this tiny valley spread out the pure wilderness of the Indian Summer, and with the small river in the middle and the boulders around, it looked like Brione. Quite awesome!
The area consists of a handful of clusters with excellent boulders up to around fb 7b. The consistence of the rock is sharp but solid and a lot of the lines were awesome to climb. We climbed most of the stuff at the Turtle-Boulders like Ninja stand, Odyssey, NoName and There is no place like home, which I really could recommend.
Thereafter we also tried a stellar arete called Plastikallergie. In a lack of time we missed to link the moves together, but it's one reason we have to come back.
Additionally, I had heard about that there is some harder stuff (up to fb 8a), but unfortunately I wasn't able to get close to some information about. Someone told me it is a kind of secret-spot-thing which is going on there. Because the lines and these rocks were mind-blowing, it would be sad to hide them any longer!
Unfortunately I don't know any of the developers personally. So I don't know their background or thoughts about bouldering and so on. I just would like to remark, as far as I'm concerned, I'm looking forward to see this area more open for other climbers (and their interests in FA and especially their views on grading). Because, the potential there is amazing and a lot of these closed-projects are looking really cool and not that hard. For me erzbloc.de is a terrific step there!
